The Kingdom of Aran is a medium sized kingdom located in south-western Westros in the region of Fairbanks, and near the Island of Frey. The Kingdom of Aran is situated mainly on the Island of Radin but has spread to many other islands in the Frey region of Fairmarket and thus shares no land border with any nation, but is in close proximity to the Empire of Frey to their south, and the Kingdom of Lucerne to their west and north.

The Kingdom of Aran is one of the few Brannish Kingdoms that exist in Europe, and following the end of the Riverlands as somewhat of an independant kingdom they have been the site of basically the Brannish culture ever since.

The Kingdom of Aran is ruled by a heridetary monarchy under House Osnard of whom has led the land ever since they rebelled against House Jennett and the KIngdom of Fairmarket that controlled them previously.

The Kingdom of Aran is dominated by the High Aran Temple of R'hllor of which while not outlawing other religions has an extremely tight hold over the Kingdom of Aran and it is only in the Andal dominated Dutchy of Myril that the worship of Dragonoph is allowed to dominate and this is only done with the most careful work of the Duke of Myril.

House Osnard first entered the island of Radin during the Great Migration, after they got into a disagreement with the Riverlords that had taken control of the Riverlands. House Osnard spent centuries as a loyalist to the forces of House Jennett, but following the Driving Tide in Lucerne a revolution sprang up when William Lovie I. sent them logisitical support in order to assist them in becoming independant. House Osnard became the ruler of the Kingdom of Aran after this as the forces of House Jennett were unable to resist the overwhelming popular support for House Osnard, and from there they made the capital of Twinvale into a true capital for their kingdom while also trying to make relationships with the Freys of whom they angled towards and away from the Riverlands and Fairmarket. The Kingdom of Aran would begin to turn away from the Empire of Frey following a series of mistakes by the Frey's and this would culminate in the rape of Meera Osnard which would spark Aran to instigate conflict. The Kingdom of Aran due to the increased hostilities would be invaded by the Empire of Frey but disastrous leadership from the Freys and assistance from their ally in the Kingdom of Lucerne would lead to a complete victory for the Kingdom of Aran during the conflict. Following the Invasion of Radin there was no peace treaty between Aran, and the Freys and thus a state of constant warfare existed but this would diminish greatly due to the Aran's taking part in the Summit of Riverrun where they became a protectorate of the Kingdom of Lucerne of which forced a hasty peace treaty to be drawn up between the Kingdom of Aran, and the Empire of Frey lest the Kingdom of Lucerne invade Frey Island.
