Melisa Blacktyde is the daughter of Yarniss, and Haela Nahine making her a member of House Nahine. Melisa Blacktyde has two siblings in the form of Vaerden, and Crestin Nahine of which Crestin is the captain of his own ship that raids the coastline from the port of Blackgrain, while her sister Vaerden died at an early age after Crestin became enraged and drown her. Melisa Blacktyde was sold to House Blacktyde in order to marry Baelor Blacktyde II. with whome made her a member of House Blacktyde. With Baelor Blacktyde she has one child in the form of Baelor Blacktyde III.

Melisa Nahine was orn in the port of Blackgrain and became very aware of the danger of the port early on her brother Crestin would kill her young sister. Following this her brother Crestin would proceede to threaten her before her mother stepped in and was then killed by the enraged Crestin. Following this her brother Crestin was banished from the port itself, and was forced to make his living as a pirate sailing from the port, but never allowed to return to the inner part of the port where his family lived. Melisa Blacktyde would be taken prisoner during the rise of Euron Greyjoy, and was seen by Maron Greyjoy being taken to a cell near where his cell was.
