Mirkwood Forest is a very large forest located in southern Westros where it is the home of the large Sindari nation of High Forest. Mirkwood Forest contains one of the few uncorrupted/destroyed world trees in the form of Asgrimmor of which survived the Eternity War, and then the long centuries after and now lies as one of the most prominent world trees remaining with only Tesgrimmor of Avelorn standing taller and controlling a larger root network.
Mirkwood Forest would become infested with Trollocs, and as this infestation expanded the Treekin of Mirkwood were slowly driven into near extinction with only the areas around the world tree Asgrimmor still being a safe home for the Treeking who defended the world tree with everything they had. The Sindari Elves of Malfurion Stormrage would come to the forest and attempt to make the forest there home but were resisted by the Trolloc insitigating a brutal conflic which at first the Treekin were unwilling to join in, but as the Sindari intentions of saving the world tree became clear the Treekin sided with the Sindari Elves and the Trolloc were destroyed.
